Background Moving Mountains for a Child means making a difference for children who cannot grow up in a safe environment like our own children. A team accepts the challenge that draws a parallel to the life of these children and what they do each day to survive or try to create a hopeful future for themselves. It is not just a challenge. It is a challenge beyond the predictable, where participants will meet unexpected hurdles, where they will experience moments in which 'quitting' will seem to be the sensible choice. The children the team focusses on do not have this choice. The only thing they daily have to deal with is meeting their challenge and move their mountain. Moving Mountains for a Child wants to show that through cooperation, support and trust you can be unstoppable and can achieve the impossible. Moving Mountains for a Child is an initiative of TAG Coaching and aims to raise an annual mountain of donations for these children in order to make their lives a little easier. 100% of the donations will go to the specific dreams of the children! This year, a team of 18 people has given itself the mission to realize a 5 year scholarship fund that offers the children of the charity Join!forkids the opportunity to go to school and graduate from a by the national government recognized school or university. The children who are chosen to benefit from this program are committed, motivated and talented to do so. To make this happen, the team is up for a challenge to raise at least 50.000,- euro for these children by getting themselves sponsored in running a very special mountain marathon in Zwitserland. This team is literally going to move mountains for these children! Moving Mountains On the 8th of August, 2010 we will literally move mountains by participating in 'la course des cinq 4000' in Switzerland. This is a mountain marathon running from Sierre to Zinal. During the route you have views of five mountain peaks over 4000 meters: Weiss Horn (4506m), Zinalrothorn (4221m), Oberg Abel Horn (4073m), Matterhorn (4478m) and Dent-Blanche (4357m). The participants start in Sierre at a height of 585m. The highest point of the race is reached in Nava (2425m) and the finish is in Zinal at 1680m. The total distance is 31 km. The charm of this course is that both beginners (starting at 5 a.m.) and experienced runners (starting at 9 a.m.) follow the same route with the same difficulty. The Charity The charity Join!forkids is a Dutch charity, founded in 2006 by Jose Brouwer, who also chairs the charity. Join!forkids wants to offer children anywhere in the world a better life through supporting small-scale private projects of Dutch emigrants abroad. As umbrella organization Join!forkids asks for attention for these remarkable people and their unique projects. By creating commitment, enthusiasm and awareness, Join!forkids hopes that more and more people will realize that they also can contribute and make a substantial difference in the life of a child. Jose: "With my charity I provide support so that children grow up in a safe and loving environment and get a chance to flourish. I am proud that Join!forkids can give this contribution. The love and commitment with which the founders of these small projects give children a new chance, touches me. The freedom, spontaneity and shine in the eyes of children, thats what makes me do this! "
